How to compress an image
- Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image, or drop it on the box above.
- Pick a level. Recommended keeps photos looking the same on any screen.
- Press Compress and download the smaller image.
Which level should I choose?
| Level | What it does | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Light | Keeps the full size in pixels and re-saves it a little lighter | Photos you may print |
| Recommended | Up to 2560 pixels on the longest side | Sharing, websites, documents |
| Smallest | Up to 1600 pixels | Forms with 100 KB to 1 MB upload limits |
A PNG photo with no transparent areas is saved as a JPG on Recommended and Smallest, which is usually several times smaller. Logos and screenshots with transparency stay PNG.
Your privacy
Photos from phones often hide the exact place they were taken (GPS) and the camera model. Compressing with fibub removes these details, and the photo itself never leaves your device.
