How to resize an image
- Choose an image: a photo, a screenshot, a scanned page, anything.
- Crop it by dragging the box, or its corners. Pick a crop shape such as square, 16:9 or a passport photo size to keep the box in that shape.
- Turn or flip it with the buttons above the picture.
- Set the size in pixels, or tap 25%, 50% or 75%.
- Choose the format to save as: JPG, PNG, WebP (and AVIF in browsers that support it).
- To meet an upload limit, tick Make it smaller than and enter a size such as 200 KB. fibub finds the best quality that fits.
- Press Create image and download it.
Which format should I use?
| Format | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| JPG | Photos | Works everywhere. No see-through areas; they are filled with the background colour you pick. |
| PNG | Screenshots, logos, text | Sharp edges and see-through areas. Larger for photos. |
| WebP | Websites, sharing | Usually 25% to 35% smaller than JPG at the same quality. |
| AVIF | Smallest files | Not every app opens it yet. |
Passport and visa photos
The crop shapes include common photo sizes: 35 × 45 mm (UK, India, many Gulf and European countries), 2 × 2 inches (US and Indian OCI) and 50 × 70 mm (Canadian passport). The pixel size is set for printing at 300 DPI. Every country also has rules on background colour, head size and expression, so check the official rules before you apply.
Does it reduce quality?
Making an image smaller in pixels, or saving a photo as JPG or WebP, removes detail you usually can’t see. Quality 80% to 90% looks the same as the original on most screens. PNG never loses detail. Your original file is not changed.
Your privacy
Your image is edited inside your browser and never uploaded. Hidden details such as the GPS location and camera model are removed from the new file.
