How to format a LinkedIn post
- Write or paste your post in the box.
- Select a word or line and press B (bold), I (italic), BI (bold italic), U (underline), S (strikethrough) or </> (typewriter).
- Select a few lines and press • List or 1. List to turn them into a list.
- Check the feed preview: it shows what people see before “…see more”.
- Press Copy post and paste it into LinkedIn.
Drafted your post somewhere that uses Markdown, such as an AI chat? Paste it and press From Markdown: **bold**, *italic*, headings and - lists turn into LinkedIn-ready text in one go.
Nothing you write leaves your device. The page works offline once it is open, and nothing is saved, so copy your post before you close the tab.
How it works
LinkedIn posts are plain text, so there is no real bold button. This tool swaps your letters for look-alike Unicode characters, such as 𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱 and 𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘤 letters from the maths alphabet, and adds combining marks for u̲n̲d̲e̲r̲l̲i̲n̲e̲ and s̶t̶r̶i̶k̶e̶. They paste into LinkedIn, X, Instagram bios and most other sites.
Use it with care
- Screen readers may read styled letters one by one, or skip them. Keep them to a few key words, never whole paragraphs. The tool warns you when a post uses a lot of them.
- Search on LinkedIn does not match styled words, so keep names and keywords plain.
- Links: LinkedIn can’t turn a word into a link. Paste the full web address on its own line; LinkedIn makes it clickable.
- Length: LinkedIn allows 3,000 characters per post. Styled letters count as two characters each, and the counter counts them that way.
Example
Before: **3 lessons** from my first data job: then three lines starting with -.
After pressing From Markdown: 𝟯 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 from my first data job: and three lines starting with •.
Questions
Can I undo? Yes. Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) works, or select the text and press Clear to turn it back into plain letters.
Does it work for other sites? Yes, anywhere that takes plain text, such as X, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube descriptions.
